Here was the email to Zoosk Inc when it was discovered that someone had created a fictitious and malicious account utilizing my personal information.
To whom it may concern at Zoosk Inc.,
This purpose of this email is to notify you in writing that my personal information (Name, email and phone number (unknown if more information was compromised as your company was not willing to help) were utilized without my authorization in order to create a malicious dating account making me appear as a Christian of the opposite sex (just to mention a couple of items added into the fictitious profile). The Zoosk Inc.
platform / website authorized a person impersonating me to create an account without any verification or three-step verification of identification of email or phone number which then enabled the account to proceed in the Zoosk Inc portal sending me numerous unwarranted or unsolicited emails from Zoosk Inc. users believing that I was looking for a relationship when in actuality, this was a false account. The creation of this account and the emails I have received have damaged my reputation and I'm unaware of to what extent I have been damaged aside from the embarrassment that this action has caused me as the email used is an account utilized at a professional capacity. (It was extremely difficult to find a direct number to Zoosk Inc's customer service) Upon calling (888)939-**** on 01-19-2021 for help to gather information to provide to law enforcement and/or my attorney who have been assisting me with my case, the Zoosk Inc.
call center refused to provide me any information as to who, where and when this account was created and from what IP address or device the account was created. After first being refused the information and then indicating that the account was now blocked after my call, Nicole and then Des (a supposed supervisor) indicated that "now only legal could provide the account information". At this time I would like all information utilized and gathered as to who created this fictitious account under my name, email and phone number (possibly more information was used). It should be noted that when I first realized I was receiving emails from Zoosk Inc.
(Zoosk Inc. being a company at the time that I had never heard of), there was no way on the site, easily to locate, in order to call in for customer service and so I tried to verify my phone number to see if it would allow me take control of the account in order to determine who setup the account and to cancel the account; however, I realized that there was no password setup which means the system allowed the account to be setup without any three-step verification prior to activation. Can you please provide a written response with as much identifying information as possible as to who was the individual who maliciously created this account at its inception (ie.
IP address, home or business address and any personal identifying information of the user who originally established the account). Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
